For her seventh Birthday
Remembering Rayleigh Elyse
(A Poem from Pappa)
All she ever really wanted
Was to be loved—as a human.
To know the warmth of human touch,
And feel what love could truly mean.
So she asked the Master gently:
Send me there… let me be seen.
The Master smiled, and softly spoke,
I know just who will welcome you.
But you won’t be there for long, dear child—Your time on earth will soon be through.
I’ll give you parents filled with grace,
Whose hearts are deep, whose love runs wide.
Surrounded by a sea of friends,
They’ll keep your memory alive with pride.
They’ll name you with a sacred care—
A name that sings of kindness, too,
Of family ties, and promises
That whisper love in all they do.
You’ll bless them all with just your story,
With tiny hands and breath so slight,
You’ll hug them once, and leave behind
A trail of everlasting light.
Yes, little one, you’ll change them all—
In ways they never dreamed or knew.
And though your time seems far too short,
Their hearts will grow because of you.
You’ll know, at last, the love you seek,
So rich, so vast, so full, so true.
Then I will bring you home again,
And great the joy prepared for you.
Your family—still on earth—will grieve,
And yet, their love will never fade.
It echoes through the days to come,
In lullabies your life once made.
And all who touched your tender frame,
Who held you close, or wiped a tear,
The ones who wept when you were gone,
Will feel your presence ever near.
Until the day they rise to see
Your smile in heaven’s perfect light—
Then they will learn, as you once did,
What it is like to be truly loved,
And held in arms that never say goodnight.
