AN ANCIENT RIDDLE frames our personal change-for-the-better this way: “The edge of a sword becomes keener through honing, and the fragrance of the plum blossom sharpens in the bitter cold.”

Life can be harsh sometimes, right? We have good times and bad. But if we have also learned by experience that extremes can make us stronger and better. . . if we allow it.

We can decide to turn hard times into great times because, through time, we discover that we have that power.

Since we can only go forward through time, do so assiduously when considering how to live, what to say, and what to do.

Determine to be your best possible “YOU.” Invite our Creator's best help to make certain it happens! He's always glad to be asked, and will always give us His best.

Then, like the plum blossom after the pervasive winter cold moderates, offer your warm, sweet fragrance of maturity to those who will appreciate it. (There are always some won't).

And be as gentle as possible without tiring of it. (You can do it!)

Be generous: invest in acts of kindness.

Kindness yields high returns. (Even though some may only "use" you).

How is it that so few seem to understand these truths?

Don’t hoard the treasures stored in your heart; spread them around.

Bless others whenever possible. (It’s always possible.)
