Good Hunting, Gentlemen
MEN, WE ARE HUNTERS by nature.
There’s something in us—hardwired and determined—that sets its sights on a goal and goes after it.
We can be relentless, even fierce, when we want that trophy.
And deep down, we know not every target is worth that intensity.
Still, some days we aim for the wrong things—like Trouble. Conflict. Pride.
We tell ourselves, “That’s not me.”
But if we paused long enough to really think,
We might realize we’re chasing shadows instead of light.
Worse yet, the trophies we too often bring home
Are not the ones we truly wanted. Empty victories.
False rewards.They don’t satisfy.
We need discipline.
Not the kind the world teaches—but the kind God trains into us.
A holy strength, directed by His wisdom,
Sharpened by prayer and purpose.
So, should we hunt?
Absolutely!
Every day.
But aim our hearts truly and well.
The original language in Proverbs 21:21 reveals a prize that is powerful and worthy: Those who pursue—who go hunting—for righteousness and kindness will find what their soul was built to long for:
“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.” (Proverbs 21:21)
This is the trophy worth chasing. This is the hunt worth giving your life to.
Good hunting, brothers!
May you track down what is true. And may you capture life—glorious life.
